Turmeric Tea

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups water
  • 1″ fresh turmeric root
  • 1″ fresh ginger root
  • 1 Tablespoons Chai spices or 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 lemon

Directions

  1. Scrub (you don’t need to peel) the ginger and turmeric roots
  2. Grate the turmeric and ginger roots into a pan, add the pepper and water and bring to a simmer.
  3. Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Serve with lemon juice and sweeten with a little date syrup, honey or stevia.

NOTES

Honey has antimicrobial properties HOWEVER if you would rather not have the blood sugar impact of the small amount of honey, you could use date syrup or stevia.

Try to have something that has a little fat in it (a nut or two!) within 10-15 minutes to help the turmeric absorb in your system, or, put 1/4 teaspoon coconut oil into the tea.
